Frequently Asked Questions
What makes BK Gymnastics different?
Through a boutique facility model and age-appropriate class sizes, we offer a higher level of communication and support – minus the distractions of larger clubs. In addition, our program is endorsed by Recreational Gymnastics Australia, with fully qualified coaching staff. We back ourselves that you will love us! If you do join and aren’t happy with us, we offer a 14-day money-back guarantee.
What ages do you cater for?
Our core programs are aimed at children from 3 months old to 12 years, however as gymnastics is a sport that can cater for all ages and abilities, we will design classes that meet the needs and expectations of the broader community.
Are your coaches/programs accredited?
Yes all of our coaches have to be qualified through Recreational Gymnastics Australia and undergo on-the-job training before having their own class to teach.
BK’s Gymnastics has developed its own industry-leading program in alignment with Recreational Gymnastics Australia coaching framework, offering age and skill-appropriate lesson plans tailored to each individual.
What are the advantages of starting gymnastics early?
Research tells us that children who have developed competency in fundamental
movement skills are far more likely to participate in sport and recreation throughout
their life and will have reduced obesity risk. There are also positive links
between fundamental movement skills and a child’s social skills, self-esteem, and
academic performance.
What should my child wear to the lesson and what should we bring?
Bring a drink bottle and wear comfortable clothing that’s easy to move in.
How many children are in the class?
We run a boutique program and offer class sizes smaller than many of our
competitors so we can focus on results. Class sizes range from between 4-10
participants depending on the level. Please see the gymnastics program section on
our site for further information.
Will our child have the same teacher every week?
Yes. We aim to keep coaches consistent in classes, but your teacher may change as
your child moves through the program.
Do parents need to attend the lessons?
For children 3 years of age and under, parents or guardians should attend. It is
not compulsory from 4 years of age onwards, but we encourage you to share in your
child’s development and achievements.
Can we take photos of our child?
Be mindful that your child (and any others in the photo) are dressed and posed
appropriately. You should ask permission before taking pictures of any child other
than your own. Club management reserves the right to ask you to refrain from
taking photos. Be mindful when posting images to social media. Our club would
strongly recommend you do not post any pictures that contain images of other
children where they are easily identifiable unless you have parental permission.
How will I get feedback and updates on my child's progress?
The BK’s Gymnastics app has been designed to provide feedback on your child’s
development after every lesson and at the end of each term. By downloading our
app, your child will also be able to receive awards and certificates for the
achievement of milestones. In addition, the head coach will be available to
discuss progress with you one on one.
Will our child receive certificates?
Yes! By downloading our app, your child will be able to receive awards and
certificates for the achievement of milestones and receive feedback after each
lesson.
What does the enrolment fee cover?
The annual enrolment fee covers your membership with BK Gym & Swim and associated state/territory fees. It provides an assurance that your coaches are accredited with Recreational Gymnastics Australia for which there are high standards of qualification and compliance. Through this program, registered participants are
also covered by insurance for personal injury. You can view the policy documents
and what is covered here.
Do we need to sign up for a full term?
No, you can come on a week-to-week basis, however, you just need to give us 4 weeks’ notice if you decide to cancel your lessons. We think you’ll love us though and we offer a special 14-day money-back guarantee when you join to give you theconfidence to try us out risk-free.
Is there a minimum term?
If you’re happy to join us for a 6-month term, you’ll access our best pricing. If
you prefer something more flexible, we offer month-to-month memberships. In
addition, we offer a special 14-day money-back guarantee when you join so you can
try us out risk-free.
Do you offer school holiday programs?
Yes we do. Our holiday program is an intensive dose of daily lessons for four
consecutive days. It’s a fun and healthy activity for the kids and a great
opportunity to get some extra practice or experience our program for the first
time.
Do the programs run on the same times as school terms?
Gymnastics is a journey that doesn’t stop when school terms do! Our program runs
48 weeks a year to recognise this. Need to take an extended break? If the break is
due to a medical reason, you can either use make-up lessons as a replacement for
short periods or apply a $5 weekly fee for longer periods to hold your preferred
lesson time. Planning a holiday to try out those new gymnastics skills? We have 4
weeks of non-lesson periods over Christmas and Easter along with the ability to
suspend 4 weeks of your own choosing. Lessons may be suspended, in advance, for a
minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 4 weeks at any one time with a maximum of 4
lessons per year.
Once we've started, can we change our lesson day or time?
Of course, you can! Our industry-leading technology means you can see all of our
class vacancies across the week in real-time and change to something more
suitable. If we don’t have anything currently that suits you can also register
using our waitlist function and you will be notified immediately once something
becomes available.
Can we get a make-up lesson if we can't make the session?
Yes unlike some of our competitors we endeavour to put the customer first with
makeup lessons. To qualify parents need to give 24-hours notice via the app that
their child will be unable to attend their regular class. Parents will then be
able to see make-up vacancies across the week and choose a suitable time to
undertake the make-up class. We ask that parents book in for these as quickly as
close to the same week as possible though so students are able to stay connected
to our curriculum.
What is your cancellation policy?
We hate to see people go but we understand there are lots of reasons why it
happens. Hopefully, we can help first if something comes up that is a barrier to
continuing but if not, parents just need to notify us in writing with 14-days
notice that they will be leaving the program.
